Privacy policy
Effective .
In short: you can read everything on this site without giving us anything. If you sign up for The Saturday Post, we keep your email address and use it only to send you that newsletter.
1. Controller
The controller responsible for personal data processed through fettefischebazar.com is:
- JBV Consultancy OÜ
- Sepapaja tn 6, 15551 Tallinn, Harju maakond, Estonia
Registry code 14807025 · VAT EE102224454 - Privacy contact
- privacy@fettefischebazar.com · +34 609 13 95 42
As the company is established in Estonia, we apply the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Estonian Personal Data Protection Act. Readers in Canada also have rights under Canadian privacy law, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), and we respect those rights where they go further.
2. Reading the site
When you open a page, our web server automatically records technical data: your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the referring address and your browser and device type. We need this to deliver pages, find errors and protect the site against misuse. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Logs are kept only for a short period and then deleted or reduced to anonymous statistics.
Fonts, icons, styles and images are all served from our own server. Simply reading a page does not send your data to Google Fonts, social networks, video platforms or any other third party.
3. The Saturday Post (newsletter)
If you subscribe, we collect only your email address, together with the date and time of your sign-up and of your confirmation, which we must keep as proof of consent.
- Purpose: sending the weekly newsletter you requested.
- Legal basis: your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR).
- Double opt-in: after you sign up we send one email with a confirmation link. Nothing else is sent unless you click it; unconfirmed addresses are deleted.
- Unsubscribing: every issue contains an unsubscribe link, and you can also write to the privacy address. Withdrawal is free and takes effect immediately; it does not affect the lawfulness of earlier sending.
If you arrived through an advertisement, the sign-up form may also carry the campaign reference that was in the link (for example a click or campaign identifier) so that we can tell which advertisement led to a subscription. These references do not contain your name or contact details.
4. Cookies and browser storage
When you first visit, a banner asks for your choice. We use the following:
| Item | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cookie choice (local storage) | Remembers your banner choice | Essential | Until you clear site data |
| Campaign reference (session storage) | Links a newsletter sign-up to the advertisement that brought you | Essential to the sign-up form | Until the browser is closed |
| Outbrain pixel (content pages) | Measuring which Outbrain advertisements bring readers here | Advertising measurement, loads when the page opens | As stated by Outbrain |
5. Advertising measurement
We promote this site through native advertising networks. Such networks offer a measurement tag that reports when a visitor from one of their advertisements arrives or signs up.
Outbrain pixel. The Outbrain measurement pixel is active on fettefischebazar.com. Outbrain is the advertising network we use to promote this site. The pixel loads on content pages (the front page, articles, section pages and the newsletter page) as soon as the page opens, including before you make a choice in the cookie banner. It never loads on this page, the imprint, the terms, the contact page or the confirmation page.
The pixel tells Outbrain that a page was viewed. In doing so Outbrain receives technical data such as your IP address, the address of the page, the referring page, browser and device information, the time of the visit and any Outbrain cookie identifiers. We use this to measure which advertisements bring readers to the site and to adjust our campaigns. We receive only aggregated reports from Outbrain, nothing that identifies you personally. Outbrain may process data outside Canada and the European Economic Area; its safeguards, and how to opt out of personalised advertising, are described in Outbrain’s privacy policy.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in measuring the performance of our advertising. You can object at any time by writing to privacy@fettefischebazar.com and through Outbrain’s opt-out, and you can block the pixel with your browser settings or a content blocker; every article remains fully readable. No other advertising or analytics tag is active on this site.
6. Recipients
We do not sell personal data or share it with others for their own marketing. Data is disclosed only to service providers who process it on our behalf under a data processing agreement: our hosting provider (server logs) and our email delivery provider (newsletter addresses). Where a provider is located outside the European Economic Area, the transfer is based on an adequacy decision or the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses. We disclose data to authorities only where the law requires it.
7. Retention
- Newsletter address: until you unsubscribe; we then keep only a minimal block-list entry so that you are not emailed again by mistake.
- Unconfirmed sign-ups: deleted shortly after the confirmation period.
- Server logs: a short period for security and fault-finding.
- Emails you send us: as long as needed to deal with your request and any follow-up.
8. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection, and the right to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of them, write to privacy@fettefischebazar.com. We answer within one month and do not charge for it.
9. Complaints
You may complain to a data protection authority. Our lead authority is the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate (Andmekaitse Inspektsioon), Tatari 39, 10134 Tallinn, Estonia, www.aki.ee. You may also contact the authority in your EU country of residence, or, in Canada, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
10. What we never ask for
No part of this site requires, or ever asks for, a Social Insurance Number, bank account or card details, or the password to a government account. Anyone asking for such information in our name is not acting for us. Please report it to privacy@fettefischebazar.com.
11. Children
This site is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
12. Changes
We will update this policy, and its effective date, before changing how we process personal data, in particular before activating any measurement tag.
